Hi All!
Today was good, mostly because I didn't have school (haha), but also because I saw and did some marvelous things!
I slept till ten and then Josh and I went to Cafe Divine for breakfast (Susan and Caspian were at ballet and then a Chinese lesson.) We came home for a bit and then all four of us went down to Fisherman's Wharf to the
Musee Mechanique, a collection of truly bizarre and slightly creepy mechanical carnival attractions and games. All of the games have been fixed up and still operate for about 25 cents. I watched a flip-book movie of Marilyn Monroe, which was cute, but there were a lot of creepy marionette dancers that I stayed far, far away from. If you've ever been frightened by a circus horror movie, I don't recommend that you visit. If Wurlitzer music and
"Laffing Sal" give you nightmares, stay home. For everyone else, it's pretty neat...
but I digress...
From there we went to the Jeremiah O'Brien, a huge ship from World War II. They allow tours of the ship, and this weekend in particular they were allowing tours of the "triple expansion double acting steam engine" (aka: boiler room). Interestingly, this was the boiler room/steam engine that they used in the filming of "Titanic." It was sooooo hot down there, I loved it. If I were to work on a ship I would totally shovel coal into the boilers. Sweet. Maybe that will be my next career.
The Jeremiah O'Brien
The life boat... I just thought it was a cool picture :P
After the boat we took the bus to Chestnut Street to a fabulous Mexican restaurant called "Mamacita." OMG, it was so delicious. It almost killed me to sit still with the fabulous Latin salsa music in the background, though. I really want to go dancing! The food was amazing. I highly recommend it.
Then we went to Palace of Fine Arts. It is SO.FREAKING.BEAUTIFUL. I want to live there and be a Grecian princess... I'm entirely serious. It was amazing. I would happily shell out a few thousand bucks to get married there, it was that impressive (now I just need the man... haha!) Anyway, here are a few pictures:

The "Theatre" portion of the Palace
Swans at the Palace... ethereal, and very much belong in my Grecian Palace.
Just to demonstrate how big this place is, here is Caspian standing in front of a pillar in the Theatre... It's freakin' big.
To conclude... I would like to move in tomorrow :)
And NOW? It's definitely bed time.
Love,
Gillian

Hey Gillian,
After how many years, I finally log on to your blog. I guess I should read the rest of the family blogs soon. Colour me completely out of touch.
Anyway, glad you got a day off and had fun with C,J, and S. I've been thinking about you and remembering the pain I experienced after my first yoga class in 3 years -- can't even imagine what your muscles and mind have been going through.
- gotta' say that you totally rock. You will be so much stronger and smarter for this experience (not that you weren't strong and smart already). I'm proud and in awe of you for giving yourself this experience.
love ya, miss ya
